Technical Project Manager - Health
Fully remote · Contract (1099) · 20–30 hrs/week · 1–2 clients · 3–6 month term · Start: ASAP / July 2026
Role overview
Brainforge is seeking a Technical Project Manager on a part-time contract basis (20–30 hrs/week) to support delivery for 1–2 healthcare clients. You will own day-to-day project coordination across technical initiatives — timelines, dependencies, stakeholder communication, risk tracking, and status reporting — so technical and delivery teams can stay focused on execution.
A core part of this seat is serving as the translator and liaison between client clinicians / clinical stakeholders and Brainforge’s technical teams (engineers, data, and AI). You should be comfortable speaking technical jargon with engineers and converting clinical / operational language into clear requirements, decisions, and next steps — and the reverse.
This is a client-support PM seat, not a Brainforge internal operations role. You must bring prior healthcare industry experience and comfort operating in regulated environments where clarity, documentation, and stakeholder alignment matter.
🔑 Key responsibilities
Project planning & execution
- Maintain project plans, milestones, and dependency maps for active workstreams.
- Track deliverables against agreed scope, timelines, and acceptance criteria.
- Facilitate sprint/phase planning, standups, and status ceremonies as needed for the engagement.
- Ensure action items, decisions, and owners are captured and followed through.
Stakeholder & client communication
- Serve as the primary liaison between client clinicians / clinical stakeholders and Brainforge technical teams (engineers, data, AI).
- Speak fluent technical jargon with engineers — requirements, dependencies, tradeoffs, blockers — without needing to write the code yourself.
- Translate clinical and operational language into actionable technical asks; translate engineering progress into language clinicians and non-technical stakeholders understand.
- Prepare and distribute weekly status updates, meeting notes, and executive summaries.
- Escalate blockers early with recommended paths forward.
Risk, scope & change management
- Proactively identify schedule, resource, and dependency risks; maintain mitigation plans.
- Support scope-change discussions with impact assessment (timeline, effort, dependencies).
- Uphold documentation standards for decisions, approvals, and project artifacts.
Healthcare delivery context
- Apply healthcare operating norms — compliance awareness (e.g., HIPAA), clinical/operational stakeholder dynamics, and vendor coordination common in health systems.
- Help teams navigate healthcare-specific constraints (change windows, approval chains, integration complexity) without slowing delivery unnecessarily.
🧩 Background & skills
Must have
- 3+ years managing IT or technology projects in a healthcare environment (provider, payer, digital health, clinical research, or health-system IT).
- Demonstrated experience coordinating cross-functional technology work — implementations, integrations, infrastructure, or enterprise IT programs.
- Clinical data management experience with EDC, eSource, and data migration.
- Clear understanding of what shape clinical/patient data needs to be in to be FDA audit-ready (structure, documentation, traceability, and submission-ready practices).
- Hands-on experience with RealTime (eClinical platform used for sending patient data to study sponsors), or equivalent systems in a similar sponsor/site data-transfer workflow.
- Ability to communicate in technical jargon with engineers and bridge between clinical / operational stakeholders and technical delivery teams.
- Strong written communication: status reports, meeting notes, RAID logs, and stakeholder emails that hold up in regulated settings.
- Proficiency with project management tools (we use Linear).
- Comfort working fully remote with US-based stakeholders across time zones.
- Availability for 20–30 hrs/week supporting 1–2 clients.
Nice to have
- Experience supporting consulting or agency delivery alongside client internal IT teams.
- Exposure to EHR/EMR ecosystems, healthcare data integrations, or clinical/operational system rollouts.
- Prior work with HIPAA-aware project practices, FDA audit / inspection readiness, or healthcare compliance review cycles.
🌟 Traits & mindset
- Operator — you keep work moving; blockers don't sit unnoticed.
- Technical translator — you speak engineer and clinician; you make both sides feel understood.
- Extremely AI fluent — you use AI daily to accelerate PM work (status synthesis, decision logs, risk framing, meeting prep) and you're comfortable coordinating Data/AI delivery with engineers—without needing to be the model builder. You treat AI as leverage, not a substitute for judgment (Human + AI > AI).
- Clear communicator — stakeholders always know where things stand.
- Healthcare fluent — you understand how decisions get made in health organizations.
- Low ego, high accountability — you coordinate without needing to own every technical detail.
- Documentation-first — if it isn't written down, it didn't happen.
📍 Location & logistics
- Location: Fully remote (US time zones preferred)
- Type: Contract / 1099
- Hours: 20–30 hrs/week supporting 1–2 clients
- Duration: 3–6 months (extension possible based on client needs)
- Compensation: $40–50/hr
- Start date: ASAP — target July 2026
