Head of Delivery
Full-time Β· Remote, US-basedΒ· Reports to: CEO
π Role overview
Brainforge is hiring a Head of Delivery to build, scale, and operate a world-class delivery experience across our client portfolio.
This will be a senior leadership seat responsible for leading and elevating a highly-motivated team of Client Success Owners (CSO) and Forward Deployed Engineers (FDE) to deliver complex projects marked by high client satisfaction and on-time deliverables.
75% of your day-to-day will be portfolio delivery leadership - ensuring projects are run to clientsβ satisfaction and orchestrating internally so that CSOs and FDEs are organized and efficiently allocated to different projects. The other 25% of your day will involve building and improving internal and external processes to level up the pace and quality of delivery. This means refining our approach to communicating with clients and within the Delivery team, coaching CSOs and FDEs, and leading reporting efforts to execs and across the Delivery team.
Think of yourself as the ultimate player coach, staying hands-on with one client engagement (typically as CSO) but with the understanding that your primary job is portfolio delivery leadership.
If you thrive with bringing structure to ambiguous environments, can drive excellent change management, and lead with a posture of serving and empathy - this role is exactly for you.
What you'll do
1. Build, operate, and scale the delivery standards (primary)
- Write the playbook for world-class delivery. This includes the full, end-to-end ideal path from the start of a client engagement to delivery and renewal. Youβll need to evaluate existing processes and decide what to keep and what to improve, along with a plan to carry out those improvements.
- Drive change management to adopt your delivery playbook. This means articulating outcomes and processes in a way that the rest of the delivery team can believe in and buy into.
- Build reporting mechanisms that quantify world-class delivery. This scorecards, checklists, and examples CSOs/FDEs can apply in weekly client work and Project Review Meetings.
- Align delivery leaders on a shared platform / AI-native delivery POV: how we use the Brainforge way to improve margins, utilization, and client outcomes.
2. Set delivery performance expectations
- Publish clear performance expectations for CSOs and FDEs: what "good / yellow / red" looks like on account health, comms cadence, milestone hit rate, and escalation timing.
- Run a reliable weekly delivery health cadence (portfolio review + exception-based deep dives) founders can trust without chasing status.
- Coach group leaders on judgment under ambiguity: scope discipline, client narrative accuracy, and when to escalate vs. resolve.
3. Run delivery leadership operating system
- Develop and execute the allocation of FDEs and CSOs to current and upcoming projects, partnering with team leads to ensure optimal allocation and to stay within budget per project
- Own Project Review Meeting quality: challenge plans on feasibility, hidden commitments, dates, and escalation thresholds before work is locked.
- Approve or send back client project plans at PRM (post-SOW, quarterly refresh, or major scope change).
- Maintain visibility into portfolio risk (client health, capacity/allocation signals, staffing conflicts) and escalate only what needs founder decision.
- Bridge architectural vision and how teams actually deploy: translate platform intent into delivery practice without becoming the default IC or pre-sales engineer.
4. Develop the delivery bench
- Clarify role expectations for CSO, Service Lead, FDE, and ICs as the operating model rolls out.
- Input on hiring and staffing for delivery leadership roles.
- Help new CSOs and SLs ramp with clear 30/60/90 expectations tied to the delivery system.

This role is / is not
This role is:
- Standards-setting and performance leadership for the delivery org
- Portfolio delivery health ownership (CSOs still own client narrative on their accounts)
- Full-time delivery leadership with decision rights on standards and performance
- A senior operator seat with technical fluency in data, AI, and modern delivery stacks
This role is not:
- Full-time CSO coverage for a book of clients (you may carry one account to stay close to the work)
- Head of Sales, partnerships owner, or primary GTM storyteller
- Pure PMO admin / status collector without decision rights on standards and performance
- A substitute for Service Lead technical ownership of build quality and IC mentorship
Ideal qualifications
Must-have
- 8+ years in delivery leadership (PMO, Head of Delivery, CSO, engagement lead, or equivalent) at a consulting, agency, or productized-services firm
- Proven ability to set standards and hold a team to them, not just document process
- Client delivery experience you can point to: you have carried revenue and relationship accountability
- Strong communicator who can distill complexity for executives and coach technical delivery leads
- Comfort operating in ambiguity; bias to install structure quickly and iterate
- Interest in AI-enabled delivery (workflows, leverage, quality): excited by making consulting better with AI, not just adding tools
Nice-to-have
- CSO or hybrid CSO/delivery leadership experience
- Built or rolled out a delivery operating system (cadences, checkpoints, playbooks)
- Familiarity with Linear (or similar) as a system of record for delivery
- Experience with data/AI delivery orgs, client success ownership, or service-line leadership
- Exposure to forward-deployed / embedded engineering models
Hard no's
- Pure staff-aug program manager with no standards-setting ownership
- Delivery leader who has not been client-facing in the last 5 years
- Needs a large ops team before they can operate (we are building the system with you)
Traits we care about
- Hands-on β you stay close to the work: client delivery, account context, and how teams actually execute. You lead from the ground, not from a distance.
- Structure-builder β you bring order to chaos without inventing bureaucracy
- Standards with teeth β written expectations that change behavior
- Low ego, high bar β coach hard, stay kind, protect the client and the team
- Operator judgment β know when to escalate vs. resolve
- Systems thinker β care about margins, utilization, and repeatable excellence, not heroics
- Technical enough β can tell when a plan, timeline, or comms narrative does not match the build
